Our aluminum housing is designed to overcome two key flaws of the OEM plastic thermostat. The plastic tabs of the OEM thermostat are prone to breaking, causing the thermostat to fail closed, which can result in engine overheating and significant damage. Our 6061-T6 aluminum housing completely removes those tabs, significantly reducing the risk of thermostat failure. Additionally, aluminum can naturally withstand high temperature heat cycles for longer periods than plastic, making our thermostat more durable and reliable.

Works flawlessly and it's not one less thing to worry about on my 3.0t
I found this part online when it just came out. It's a precision, quality, non-plastic replacement part, to replace an OEM item that has a reputation for cracking & failure. I contacted them immediately and was one of the 1st to receive one. It's a beautiful piece. Very well made and thought out. It's a permanent part because it should never fail. The only failure point is the t'stat itself, which is replaceable. Kudos to them for developing this. Hopefully they can do the same for the OEM PCV.
